Did you know that you can now update your bank account number with the Dutch Tax Authority (Belastingdienst) online? This is very convenient, because by updating your bank account number online, you ensure that refunds such as income tax, allowances or business-related tax refunds are always paid to the correct account. You can easily update your bank account number via the Belastingdienst website.
Updating your bank account number. Why is this important?
If the Belastingdienst does not have your (current) bank account number, no refund can be issued. You may be entitled to receive money, but it will not be deposited into your account. It is therefore essential to keep your bank account number up to date.
Entrepreneur? Good to know
As an entrepreneur, you may receive refunds for:
• VAT returns if you have paid more VAT than you received
• Corporate income tax, for example in the case of provisional assessments or loss compensation

Sole proprietorship (ZZP)
Do you have a sole proprietorship?
Then you can simply log in using DigiD via Mijn Belastingdienst to update your bank account number yourself. Adjusting your bank account number is easier than you might think and helps prevent many issues.
You can do this via Belastingdienst.nl. Go to Login > For entrepreneurs > Login with DigiD > My details > Bank account number for refunds, where you can submit a new account number.
B.V., V.O.F., or other business entities
For businesses other than a sole proprietorship, login is done using eHerkenning.
Make sure you have access to eHerkenning if you want to update the bank account number yourself. Updating your bank account number yourself gives you control and helps prevent errors.
If you do not have eHerkenning or prefer us to handle this for you,
No worries. As your administration firm, we can take care of this using a chain authorization (ketenmachtiging). Feel free to contact us and we will walk you through what is needed.
This can be done via Belastingdienst.nl. Go to Login > For entrepreneurs > Login with eHerkenning > My details > Bank account number for refunds to submit a new account number.
Still not receiving your refund?
Is the correct bank account number registered, but the refund has not arrived?
The Belastingdienst may have offset the refund. This happens if there are outstanding amounts, such as unpaid tax assessments, allowance repayments or fines. In that case, the refund is automatically applied towards those outstanding balances. Always make sure your bank account number is correct to avoid confusion.
